Strum the Lute

The finishing
posture of
Brushing
Knee And
Step forward
on the left
side.
                  Strum the Lute 01
While keeping the left arm slightly bended, with
the left shoulder joint as center, sink down the
elbow joint and lift the left palm up with roughly a
foot from the chest. Lower down the right palm
slightly and place the right fingers near the left
wrist.
Both palms are facing down. When bringing  up
the left hand, move the right foot half-step forward
closed to the left heel with toes softly touching the
ground . Lift the right heel and keep the  weight
center  remained in the connecting line of H-K on
the left side.
              Strum the Lute 02
In keeping  both hip joints at the same height, ground the
right heel. Simultaneously lift the left heel and shift the weight
center to the connecting line of D-K on the right leg.
Following the process of transferring the center of gravity,
gradually strengthen the leaning upper body  to upright and
at the same time with the spine as the center turn the waist
to the left side.
Coincide with the above motion and follow the backward
movement of  both elbows, both hands move slightly
downward to the left side of the body. At this moment, the left
forearm and fingers are pointing east at the same time. The
right fingers are still placed in the middle of the left wrist.
      Strum the Lute 03
With the spine as the center and
without affecting the position of both
hands, turn the waist and bring the
left arm to the right side of the body
till the left arm and left palm are
facing south.
The right arm follows the move at
the same time. When turning the
waist, try not to affect the status of
both hips and knees and maintain
the entire body upright and
suspended.
           Strum the Lute 04
While keeping the basic position like
the picture above, stretch the left leg
with heel on the ground and toes
pointing upward as much as possible.
Both thighs are parallel and ensure the
center of gravity is falling on the
right leg. Though the left leg is not
supporting the body weight, it still has
the sense of grounding. This facilitates
the opening of the hips , lower down the
buttocks and the establishment of a
stable and agile posture.
              Strum the Lute 05
Stretch the right leg and bend the left leg.
While keeping the height of the hip joints
unchanged, shift the center of gravity forward
to the east till the connecting line of A-B-D-H-K
becoming a straight line.
When moving the weight center forward, with
the left forearm as axis turn the left palm from
facing down to facing east. The left palm is
having a bit of the  sense to move a substance
. However, do pay attention that the left
forearm is in fact not pushing forward because
of this.
               Strum the Lute 06
Under the condition of not moving both arms, by
turning the waist bring the left arm to the left
side till the forearm and fingers are pointing
east. When  the turning of the waist is completed,
make sure the right foot is pointing east and
parallel with the left foot.

Also pay attention that the right knee is not
moving to the left when turning the waist; which
means  opening of the hips is maintained. Only with
this, a kind of twisting power from the waist and
legs can be generated through grounding of the
outer edges of both legs.
              Strum the Lute 07

With the power from the waist and hips
,use the stable hip joints as center,
bring the slanting torso to  suspended
upright. And move both arms with
posture unchanged back to the left side
of the body at the same time. Place the
right foot in a  parallel position with the
left foot. At this moment, the weight
center is still firmed on the left and
loose on the right.
